WDC My Book Thunderbolt Duo, Maximum Performance with Thunderbolt Connectivity
This WDC My Book Thunderbolt Duo also comes with Thunderbolt connectivity. This external hard disk has two drive bays that filled with hard disk Hitachi 7200 RPM capacity of 4 TB. Although WDC is the leading hard disk manufacturers, yet for WDC My Book Thunderbolt Duo, WDC doesn’t use its own hard disk since WDC hasn’t released hard disk capacity of 4 TB. With those hard disk, WDC My Book Thunderbolt Duo has total capacity of 8 TB. However if you using RAID 1 configuration, its capacity will certainly reduced by half because one of hard disks was used to backup the data contents from another hard disk. Besides 8 TB, WDC My Book Thunderbolt Duo also available in capacity of 4 TB and 6 TB. That way, you can choose the amount of capacity according to the needs.
Unlike with its brother that is black color, WDC My Book Thunderbolt Duo comes with silver color. This external hard disk also has LED light on top of WD logo that looks like a small dot. Albeit small, this LED light quite helpful facilitates you to know the activity from this external hard disk. On the back side, WDC My Book Thunderbolt Duo also features with two Thunderbolt ports so you can use Daisy Chain feature on Thunderbolt.
Basically, this external hard disk was dedicated for Mac operating system because already formatted with HSF+ Journaled. Unfortunately, WDC doesn’t provide applications support for the users of Windows . Even so, the resulting performance can not be underestimated. When trying to test using MacBook Pro with Blackmagic Disk, this external hard disk write speed able to score 254.6 MB/s. While the read speed which obtained is 251 MB/s.
